In a bid to protect and save children living in Amuwo-Odofin Constituency and Lagos State at large from incessant kidnapping especially with the recent kidnap of 6 pupils from Igbonla Model College Epe last week, who are yet to be released by their abductors, Hon. Dipo Olorunrinu the lawmaker representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 1 at Lagos House of Assembly said lawmakers in the State have put in place laws which guarantee the safety of every child.

Speaking at “Children’s Day Hangout 2” an event organized yearly by the lawmaker to celebrate Children, Olorunrinu expresses sympathy to the parents of the pupils saying the State Security Apparatus are highly functional and confident the children will be rescued with their abductors brought to book.

This supports the effort of the Lagos State Government who according to reports on Monday has declined to negotiate ransom with the kidnappers but rather, relying on Security Agencies to ensure the release of the victims.

Hon Dipo Olorunrinu, the only surviving PDP lawmaker in the state whose passion for children has seen him since assumption of office created an avenue for children to bond through his annual “Children’s Day Hangout” where children get free gifts, free drinks, free food.

Aside from that, his love for catering for the welfare of children has also seen him put in place a “Free School Bus Programme” to convey children within his constituency to their various schools. In his words, he said, “The idea behind the free school bus programme is to fend for vulnerable children who have no meal. Transport fare being given to these kids by their parents can be converted to meal. The buses have been running for 2 years”.
