Breaking News: FEC Meeting ongoing in Buhari's Absence

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting is ongoing at the Presidential Villa in Abuja and President Muhammadu Buhari is absent, the Punch reports.

According to the reports, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is anchoring the meeting which started at about 11am.

This makes it third-time Osinbajo will be presiding over the meeting.

No official reason has been given for Buhari’s absence the Punch has reported.

According to Premium Times, the  Minister for Information Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the President did not turn up because he has continued to rest from official work as advised by his doctors.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the FEC meeting, Mr Mohammed said;

“The President chose today to rest, he was in his office yesterday, which you all reported.

“He is taking his doctors’ advice so that he can fully recover,” the minister said.

Mr. Buhari was also absent during FEC meeting last week. Then, Mr. Mohammed said the president was taking the day to rest and work from home, Premium Times reports.
