DasukiGate: Buhari's associate returns 60 percent of loot

Lawal Jafaru Isa
A former Military Administrator of Kaduna State, Gen. Lawal Jafaru Isa, has refunded 60 per cent of the money he allegedly collected from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA)

Isa was arrested a few days ago following evidence obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that he received the sum of N170 million from the ex-NSA.

He is a close associate of President Muhammadu Buhari and the first person in the All progressives Congress to fall into the trap of the EFCC over the disbursement of funds to several persons by Dasuki.

“He admitted collecting money from ONSA and he has refunded 60 per cent of the sum credited to him. I think it should be about N100 million”, an EFCC source said.

“Isa is the only person who has so far refunded money among the political figures who collected funds from ONSA. We have granted him bail to allow him time to source for the balance.”

The source said Mr. Isa pledged to return the remaining N70million soon.

“We let him go after returning the sum of N100million. We are expecting him to return the rest soon,” the source said.

According to him, some of the suspected recipients of the slush funds who claimed they had no idea the money sent to them was taken from the public till were handed opportunities to return what they got from the former NSA but refused.

“We offered them the chance of returning the money honorably but they keep deploying tactics to avoid prosecution, while also going away with the loot,” he said.
