Ambode Set To Unveil 'SMART CITY MODEL' For Lagos



Apparently not satisfied with the challenge of the influx of people into Lagos, the state Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, said his government is set to commence the plan to unveil ‘smart city’ model for Lagos State, NEW TELEGRAPH reports.

To this end, the Governor is expected to unveil the smart city plan for Lagos at a four-day retreat organised for the State Executive Council, where emphasis will be on creating alternative modes of transportation and proffer a lasting solutions to the perennial traffic gridlock in the state metripolis. Speaking on the agenda of the retreat, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde said that the four-day retreat would create an avenue to flesh out the policy direction of government with a view to serve the citizenry better.

He added that the retreat would focus on three key issues of Security, Job Creation as well as Infrastructure development, which, according to him, are the economic drivers of the Ambode’s administration.

Ayorinde said: “The retreat will focus on three key issues of Security, Job Creation as well as Infrastructure development, which are the economic drivers of the Ambode’s administration.It will also concretise plans to turn Lagos to a “smart city” where emphasis will be on creating alternative modes of transportation.

“With the firm foundation laid in the past four and half months by Governor Ambode, particularly in the area of civil service restructuring, the cabinet is now ready to build on solid foundation already laid by executing policies that will keep Lagos ahead as the Centre of Excellence.” He added that the retreat would also be attended by the body of Permanent Secretaries and some select Head of Agencies.
