EFCC – I AM HERE

So he came out of the gleaming black SUV, T-shirt boldly screaming the now immortal words – EFCC, I AM HERE. And, this marked the beginning of what would look like a long and arduous journey for the former governor of Ekiti State Ayo Peter Fayose with the authorities.
In the midst of this excitement and restlessness, let us not loose sight of the symbolism of it all. This particular suspect has been the most virulent critic of this administration and this marked him out from day one. His inevitable issues with the EFCC has been well foretold and in fact it would have been the 8th wonder of the world if he escaped their attention.
Secondly, he did not do the ‘right’ thing. He did not defect or seek to cut a deal to escape this impending date. In the last 24 months, a myriad of cowardly clay footed politicians have trodden this route, tearing into tatters the so called anti-corruption battle of the administration. So many politicians have all taken this route and Peter begins to look l…

Aregbesola Behind Governor Ambode's Woes, Not Tinubu, Says Group

The United Broom Movement (UBM), a political bloc within the APC in Lagos state has reiterated that the man responsible for the woes of Ambode is Aregbesola.

According to the UBM’s leader, Mr. Fouad Oki, who had in last June, cried out the Osun State Governor was after Ambode, Aregbesola is the head of the Mandate Group, which is the dominant group under former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political family.

He said it was the group that is insisting on the removal of Ambode.

“Its members cut across every community, city and shanty of the state. It has its highest concentration in Alimosho Local Government Area, which is about the largest local government in the state. In most cases, it is the votes from Alimosho that determine who win major elections in the state.

“The direct control of the Mandate Group is within the domain of Governor Aregbesola, who is the second-in-command in the Bola Tinubu political circuit in the state.”

According to Mr. Dayo Williams, a member of the UBM, “th…

ON REMOVAL OF SENATE PRESIDENT

The serial attempts to remove the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki (PDP/Kwara) from office has continued to raise constitutional, legal and political questions, especially after the botched attempt last Tuesday seeking to sack the National Assembly complex in order to effect an unconstitutional change.

To this end, it is Paramount to take a look at Senate Presidents who have been impeached from 1999- till date and on what grounds they were impeached?
Late Chief Evans Enwerem  The late Enwerem was impeached for alleged perjury and age falsification. He was President of the Senate from June 3, 1999 to November 18, 1999. Having been accused of falsifying his age and academic qualifications, he was subsequently asked to step down. But Enwerem refused, and 90 of 99 senators (in a 109-member Senate) voted to impeach him. Two opposed the motion and the rest were either absent or abstained from voting.
Late Dr Chuba Okadigbo Okadigbo took over from Enwerem and was President of the Se…

SARAKI VS OSHIOMOLE

OSHIOMHOLE TO SARAKI: Resign Honourably or be Impeached

SARAKI TO OSHIOMOLE: Impeachment Plan Is Mere “Wishful Thinking”

Excerpts from Press Conference held by APC National Chairman and Published by Sumner Shagari Sambo:

Without going back to ancient history, it is important to look at how Senator Bukola Saraki became the President of the Senate. He decided, clearly, against the party position to enter into a deal with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and got a faction of the PDP, taking advantage of the fact that majority of the APC senators were holding a meeting at the International Conference Centre to resolve the issue of leadership of the senate and other principal officers that are expected to be produced by the ruling party with majority senators.

Because he has put his personal interest over and above the interest of the party, he went into alliance with the PDP and conceded the position of Deputy Senate President to the opposition in other to obtain their supp…
